About SMBC
Our History
- Our church was founded in 1944 by a group of dedicated Christians who wanted to create a welcoming space for all people. Since then, we have grown into a vibrant community that serves our members and our city. We celebrate more than 80 years of God's faithfulness!
Our Pastor
- Pastor Sheridan McDaniel is a seasoned pastor, community leader, and mentor with over 30 years of ministry experience. He serves as the Senior Pastor of A Place for Worship Church in Anaheim and St. Mark Baptist Church in Long Beach. Beyond the pulpit, Pastor McDaniel extends his ministry into the broader community as a Chaplain for the Fullerton Police Department and at Puente Hills Ford. He is the Founder and Overseer of CIA (Character, Integrity, Accountability) Men’s Fellowship, empowering men to lead lives of integrity and faith. Additionally, he provides spiritual support and guidance in both civic and corporate settings -while also mentoring pastors and ministry leaders toward sustainable and impactful service. Pastor McDaniel is supported in ministry by his wife, LarLeslie, and is the proud father of four adult children and grandfather of one grandson.
